Hand & Hand® Medical's BulbPendant is a US Patent-issued Post Surgical Drain and/or Medical Device management/securement system that is currently in regular use as supplied directly to Hospitals, Clinics and Physicians.
The BulbPendant is indicated for use with patients who are fitted with "Jackson-Pratt" style bulb drains, "outboard" medical devices and/or other receptacles. Most often, the BulbPendant is administered in recovery after surgical drain or device installation is complete. The BulbPendant's installation on the patient allows for easy inspection and management of drain/device sites without removal or adjustment and is fully comfortable for patients awakening from anesthesia. It safely stows and secures drain/device components so that patients can be moved, ambulate, or return home with drains or devices installed.
Use of the BulbPendant administered in recovery reduces the risk of premature drain or device removal. BulbPendant use when associated with drain or device therapy produces consistently positive results, including:
The BulbPendant is indicated for use for the entire duration drains/devices are present and is manufactured to meet or exceed normal drain or device usage periods. The BulbPendant is the preferred protocol indication for bulb drain or outboard medical device management for the following surgery types:
The Bulb Pendant is also designed and suitable for all Female, Male and Youth bulb drain management patients.
The BulbPendant is completely waterproof and non-bacterial.

New protocol for drain and device management
MultiPendant is the first management system for a variety of devices that can be easily administered at the OR/PACU transfer. Safe, hygienic, and easy to use, both staff and patients appreciate the increased mobility and improved outcomes that our new MultiPendant system provides.
Flexibility in managing drains, pumps, and devices
MultiPendant is the first comprehensive management system helping both staff and patients achieve improved patient outcomes. MultiPendant safely and comfortably stows drains and devices and allows for the monitoring and/or emptying and adjustment of devices or drains without removal from the receptacle. MultiPendant is easily positioned to the side in a “sash” application.
Easy installation at the OR/PACU Transfer…
Simply stow the drain in the receptacle and secure, then slip the strap around the shoulder and clip in place. Patients can now be transferred without concern of drain pull or premature extrication.
Added Covid 19 Advantages…
MultiPendant has proven to be an excellent tool in reducing Covid 19 exposure for both staff and patient. When MultiPendant is used, “sharps hazard” from safety pins is eliminated completely. Because drains are fully stowed and managed, patients can be instructed in self drain management which reduces the need for additional contacts.
100% Waterproof and Non-Absorbent…
MultiPendant is made from sanitary 100% waterproof & non-absorbent materials, and is approved for use with patients who have been cleared to bathe.
Due to positive evaluations regarding the usage of BulbPendant during the Covid-19 situation, Hand & Hand Medical and the BulbPendant Product have now been added to the National Covid-19 Supplier Database WBENC.
Eliminating “Sharps Hazard” for Nurses and Staff...
Because BulbPendant replaces the use of “Safety Pin” installation and management of drains, BulbPendant eliminates puncture wounds and compromising of gloves and safety equipment that are key to preventing the spread of Coronavirus Covid-19.
BulbPendant use relieves Nurses and Staff of many previous tasks that required physical contact. Because BulbPendant allows for tasks such as “fill rate check” and “drain emptying” without the need to remove drains from the device, patients can be instructed in how to assist or perform these tasks without physical contact with nurses and staff.
Patients fitted with BulbPendant have the advantage of performing many of the activities of daily living without the normal need of outside assistance. BulbPendant patients that are recovering from surgery at home are able to bathe “hands free,” and are able to ambulate and perform activities individually which reduces or eliminates the need for outside physical contact and assistance.
BulbPendant’s durable construction of non-absorbent Neoprene and Mesh materials make prior devices made from cloth impractical and obsolete. While cloth items can absorb and retain Viral mediums and require laundering, BulbPendant can be quickly and easily disinfected with a swipe of a simple alcohol swab and use of soap and water and is the only unit that can be disinfected while the drain(s) remain present.
BulbPendant usage assists in reducing the needed physical contact for patients recovering from their surgical procedures. Many of these patients have compromised immune systems due to chemotherapy or other issues related to their illnesses. Experts agree that the reduction of physical contact significantly improves a patients ability to avoid contracting the Covid-19 Virus.
BulbPendant protocol has shown to be an effective tool in reducing costs and improving efficiencies in OR/PACU operations.
